Companions on the Way began with a small group of people asking two big questions:  "While Christianity often talks about loving like Jesus, how do we create a community that actually learns how?" and "How do we make sure that community is open to those with every experience of "Church" - from the church-loving, to the church-wounded, to the church-disinterested?" The result became a spiritually diverse community of people studying Jesus' Way of relationships through our School of Love, centered around contemplative living in daily life, and open to all.  In  2015, our community became an official 1001 New Worshiping Community of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and in 2020 we became an Emerging Gospel Community of the Synod of the Northeast.
